Superintendent, Dr. Marie Robinson

I am honored to serve as the new Superintendent of the Bangor School Department, building upon the district's long-standing tradition of academic excellence. Our students are the living embodiment of our commitment to providing a world-class education, and their countless achievements and talents are a true inspiration.

The Bangor School Department has earned numerous state and national accolades that are a testament to the exceptional caliber of our schools and educators. We are proud to be home to 5 National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, Standard and Poor's Magazine Outperformer Award winners, Newsweek Top High Schools, and Parents' Choice Award recipients. Our student-athletes have also achieved remarkable success, with Bangor schools earning numerous state, regional, and national championships.

Most impressively, Bangor schools produce more National Merit Scholars and Semifinalists than any other public or private high school in Maine. This incredible academic achievement speaks volumes about the talent and potential of our students, as well as the dedication of our teachers and staff.

As Superintendent, I am committed to building upon this legacy of excellence and ensuring that every student in Bangor has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Through innovative teaching practices, state-of-the-art technology, and a relentless focus on student growth and well-being, we will empower the next generation of leaders, innovators, and global citizens.

I look forward to working alongside our talented educators, engaged families, and vibrant community to write the next chapter in the Bangor School Department's storied history. Together, we will continue to elevate our schools as beacons of academic achievement and community pride.

Sincerely,

Dr. Marie Robinson

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Racial equity, economic justice, inclusion and human rights are core values for the Bangor School Committee, the City of Bangor, its Council, and its employees. The Committee believes that a fair, inclusive work environment provides an atmosphere that allows all individuals to attain their greatest potential, promote a sense of belonging, and achieve the greatest benefits for the school department.

Mentoring

During the 2021–2022 school year, we began a mentoring program that encompassed all eleven of our Bangor schools. Students in our schools have the opportunity to meet with community members, staff members, and peer mentors. Students at the middle and high school levels may also become peer mentors.
